What is Team Spina Bifida?

Team Spina Bifida is the Spina Bifida Association's (SBA) endurance program whereby supporters across the country train for and compete in marathons, half-marathons, and other athletic events (5Ks, 10Ks, triathlons, cycling events, sports tournaments, etc) to help raise awareness about and funds for Spina Bifida.

How does it work?

For a $30 registration fee, you can join Team Spina Bifida and occupy a charity slot in one of our official marathon events or choose your own event. It's entirely up to you!

For official events, SBA will pay your marathon entry fee and provide you with a Team Spina Bifida racing shirt, fundraising toolkit, personal webpage, ongoing staff support, and an invitation to dinner the evening before your race. In exchange, you agree to raise a minimum amount for SBA, which varies by event. Typically, the minimum is around $600 per half-marathon and $1,250 per full marathon. We can even arrange to help pay for your travel if you opt for a higher fundraising minimum!

If you choose your own event, you can pick your race and pick your fundraising minimum. We'll also provide you with a Team Spina Bifida racing shirt, fundraising toolkit, personal webpage, and staff support. If you agree to our standard half or full marathon minimums, we'll even reimburse your marathon entry fee!

Why should I join Team Spina Bifida?

If you are passionate about Spina Bifida and helping those affected, this is a fabulous (and fun!) way to get involved. Whether you race in honor or in memory of someone in your life, to get active and stay fit, to cross a marathon off your bucket list, or to meet new people who are committed to the cause, we encourage you to push yourself and sign up today.
